HUMAN RIGHTS LAW

Turkey is a party to the European Convention of Human Rights. Our Office provides services for clients who are citizens of states party to the convention.

Our team only selects cases regarding property claims against states in investor-state disputes. These cases usually crystalise if the investor’s claims, mostly concerning direct or indirect expropriation claims, are dismissed for any reason during the arbitration proceedings (ICSID, UNCITRAL, PCA).

At this stage, our office advocates your rights violated under the umbrella of property rights of the European Convention of Human Rights with respect to substantive protection mechanisms provided under bilateral investment treaties. Usually, the shareholders of the company become the applicants to the European Court of Human Rights after their efforts at domestic courts are unsuccessful.
