Nisanur Hekimoğlu spoke at the Moody’s & PwC Türkiye Executive Roundtable – “The Future of Third-Party Risk Management,” together with Ege Erdem, addressing the evolving challenges of managing third-party relationships in an increasingly complex regulatory and risk environment.
During their session, “Beyond Compliance: Managing Third-Party Risks in a Complex Regulatory Environment,”Hekimoğlu and Erdem discussed whether traditional Know Your Customer (KYC) processes remain sufficient in an environment where geopolitical, economic, technological, sanctions and supply-chain risks are increasingly interconnected.
Drawing on the World Economic Forum Global Risks Report 2026, the session explored how different categories of risk increasingly intersect and why third-party risk management needs to account for the broader ecosystem surrounding each business relationship. The speakers also addressed findings from 2026 global internal audit risk research, including the growing prominence of third-party risk among corporate priorities and the increasing allocation of time and resources to this area.
From a sanctions compliance perspective, Hekimoğlu emphasized that effective KYC should extend beyond screening names against sanctions lists. Assessing a third party requires a broader understanding of ownership and control structures, business activities, sectoral exposure, adverse media, transaction patterns, supply-chain relationships and relevant red flags.

The session also examined examples from defence, manufacturing, financial services and M&A, highlighting that sanctions and third-party risks cannot be assessed through a uniform approach across industries. An effective compliance framework requires organizations to identify where their particular exposure lies and integrate that assessment into both compliance processes and commercial decision-making.
The central message of the session was clear: Know Your Customer — but also know the relationship, the transaction, the supply chain and the risk environment surrounding them.
Nisanur Hekimoğlu, Moody’s ve PwC Türkiye tarafından düzenlenen “The Future of Third-Party Risk Management” Yönetici Yuvarlak Masa Toplantısı kapsamında, Ege Erdem ile birlikte giderek karmaşıklaşan düzenleyici ortamda üçüncü taraf ilişkilerinin ve bu ilişkilerden kaynaklanan risklerin yönetimini ele aldı.

“Beyond Compliance: Managing Third-Party Risks in a Complex Regulatory Environment” başlıklı oturumda, jeopolitik, ekonomik, teknolojik, yaptırım ve tedarik zinciri risklerinin giderek daha fazla iç içe geçtiği bir ortamda, geleneksel İş Ortağını Tanı (Know Your Customer – KYC) süreçlerinin tek başına yeterli olup olmadığı tartışıldı.
